YETORMA BETTY FOH

Yetorma Foh completed a Master’s in Public Health Leadership, with a Global Health and Maternal Child Health concentration, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Education with a Health Studies concentration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Biology minor from East Carolina University. Yetorma is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), passionate about continuous quality improvement and sustainable development for both global and rural citizens. Yetorma’s sincere interest for global health equity and sustainable development led her to establish Project Genes1s.

PHYLECIA BARRETT

Phylecia Barrett earned her bachelors degree in Accountancy from East Carolina University in 2010 and is currently pursuing her Masters in Business at Wake Forest University. She has worked in various industries throughout her career as she transitioned from Accounting to Finance, obtaining over 8 years of experience in budgeting, expense management and forecasting. She is currently a Senior Financial Analyst at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) where she is responsible for budgeting and forecasting the operating expenses for the Bank of America US Portfolio. Phylecia is passionate about community service, cultural awareness and the collaboration and unification of the African diaspora.

AMINA SESAY

Amina Sesay received her B.A. in Communication Studies with a concentration in Health and a minor in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She currently works at Legal Aid of North Carolina as a Health Care Navigator and Medical Legal Partnership Paralegal. Prior to this position, she interned with SUDU, a new non profit organization located in Sierra Leone aimed at providing homes and quality education for orphans ages 3-6. In this role, she managed all communications efforts and oversaw the implementation timeline of SUDU. Her interests lie in how health policy impacts the lives of marginalized and vulnerable communities. She is an avid believer that policy change is a critical step in improving the life and health outcomes of these communities. Amina plans on furthering her education by obtaining her MPH with a focus in Health Policy.

perrine deshield

Perrine currently lives in Charlotte, NC and works as an Events Specialist for Belk corporate headquarters. Prior to moving back to the south and living in New York, she obtained her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and communication studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master's degree from Savannah College of Art and Design in Luxury Fashion & Management. She is the creator of 1stGens, a podcast about first-generation Americans and filling in the blanks beside the hyphen. Perrine co-hosts the podcast with her Liberian-American cousin, Skye. 1stGens shines light on the day-to-day issues that first-generation Americans face and show that being American isn’t always so black and white. She’s a marketer, podcaster and style mentor. She's a huge advocate for recognizing who you are and gaining empowerment--whether for your own personal branding or for your business.
